NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE

GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020

CITY OF TRENTON, MICHIGAN

To the Qualified Electors of the City of Trenton, Wayne County, and State of Michigan:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a General Election will be held in the City of Trenton on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that any qualified elector of the City of Trenton who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Trenton City Clerk; the office of any County Clerk; a Secretary of State Branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the City Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the City Clerk is Monday, October 19, 2020. After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the City Clerk’s Office, located at 2800 Third Street, Trenton, MI 48183 at the following times:

• Regular business hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Saturday, October 31, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Qualifications: A citizen of the United States and resident of the City who is at least 18 years of age and has lived in the State of Michigan, resident of the City for at least 30 days prior to November 3, 2020. Note: A person who registers to vote by mail is required to vote in person unless they have previously voted in person in the city/township where they live or are at least 60 years of age or are handicapped. Persons with disabilities needing accommodations should contact the Clerk’s office.

In said General Election, candidates for the following offices are to be voted upon:

United States President and Vice President; United States Senator; United States Representative in Congress, 12th District; Representative in State Legislature, 23rd District; State Board of Education Members; University of Michigan Regent; Michigan State University Trustee; Wayne State University Governor; County Prosecuting Attorney; County Sheriff; County Clerk; County Treasurer; County Register of Deeds; County Commissioner, 15th District; Justice of Supreme Court; Judge of Court of Appeals, 1st District – Incumbent Position; Judge of Circuit Court, 3rd Circuit – Incumbent Position; Judge of Circuit Court, 3rd Circuit – Non-Incumbent Position; Judge of Circuit Court, 3rd Circuit – Incumbent Position, Partial Term Ending 01/01/2023; Judge of Probate Court – Incumbent Position; Judge of District Court, 33rd District – Incumbent Position; Local School Board Member – Riverview and Trenton School Districts.

In addition, the following State proposals are to be voted upon:

Proposal 20-1 – A proposed constitutional amendment to allow money from oil and gas mining on state-owned lands to continue to be collected in state funds for land protection and creation and maintenance of parks, nature areas, and public recreation facilities; and to describe how money in those state funds can be spent.

Proposal 20-2 – A proposed constitutional amendment to require a search warrant in order to access a person’s electronic data or electronic communications.

In addition, the following School District proposals are to be voted upon:

Intermediate School District Regional Enhancement Millage Renewal Proposal.

Hold Harmless Millage Renewal Proposal – Trenton Public Schools only.

Absentee ballots are available. The deadline for obtaining absentee voter ballots for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, is Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. The City Clerk's office will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020, for the above purpose. Deadline for obtaining absentee voter ballots to be mailed via first class mail is Friday, October 30, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. Persons qualified to vote absentee in the election may vote in person in the City Clerk's office up to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020. Election Day registrants may obtain and vote an absentee voter ballot in person in the Clerk’s office.
