The Trenton Loan Closet, which had been shuttered due to the ongoing pandemic and continued closure of the Westfield Center, is reopening in September and will be available through the Parks and Recreation Office at the Kennedy Recreation Center. The Loan Closet is a community resource that loans basic medical equipment such as crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs and bathroom safety equipment to Trenton residents. The department understands how important this service is to residents in need and has been working hard to make the necessary changes that has allowed it to reopen.
To accommodate users, a limited supply of equipment has been relocated to the Kennedy Recreation Center. This equipment has been inventoried and each piece has been entered into the new registration platform to allow for easy and more efficient tracking.
A nominal deposit and proof of residency is required to borrow equipment. The deposit will be refunded when the equipment is no longer needed and returned in good working condition. Persons interested in borrowing equipment are asked to contact the Recreation office at 734-675-7300 to check availability.
