The Trenton Police Department is seeking residents to serve on its Auxiliary Police Unit which acts as the eyes and ears of the Police Department and assists at the many special events which are held in the City each year.
The Auxiliary Police Force is an unarmed, uniformed, volunteer unit, which it's members are from the Trenton area. Duties include patrolling neighborhoods and business districts, parades, sporting events and park patrols in marked auxiliary units and reporting suspicious circumstances.
Members average about 100 hours a year of service.
Members are required to participate in approximately 30 hours of in-service training. They receive training in CPR, first aid, blood borne pathogens, crime prevention, traffic control and crowd control as well as other training.
Requirements to join are that you be at least 21 years of age, high school graduate or GED, have a valid Michigan drivers license, and be able to pass a background check.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Auxiliary Police you can fill out an application at City Hall at the Human Resources Department on the second floor.
