|Mr. Raftery began his career with the City of Trenton Wastewater Treatment Plant on January 3, 1989 as Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. In 1991, he was promoted to Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. Mr.Raftery received an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Water and Wastewater Technology from Red Rocks Community College in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Raftery has worked in the Water/Wastewater field for over 30 years and is a Certified Michigan "A" Wastewater Operator and Colorado "A" Wastewater Operator.|
The City of Trenton's Wastewater Treatment Plant has been in operation since 1964. The City operates an Activated Sludge Treatment Facility. On an average day 4.0 million gallons per day are treated with a design capacity of 6.5 million gallons per day. Belt filter presses and Landfill is used for sludge disposal. The plant consists of an aerated grit chamber, 5 primary settling tanks, 4 aeration basins, 4 final clarifiers, 1 chlorine contact chamber, 2 sludge thickening tanks, 2 sludge holding tanks and 2 belt filter presses. The City also operates 4 sewage lift stations, 1 emergency storm lift stations and 20.0 million gallon storage basin all located in various sections of the city. This modern facility is located on 5.5 acres at 1801 Van Horn Road, Trenton, Michigan.
