Please join us for a FREE screening of Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Thousands of miles away from civilization, Midway Atoll is in one of the most remote places on earth. And yet its become ground zero for The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, syphoning plastics from three distant continents.

In this independent documentary film, journalist/filmmaker Angela Sun travels on a personal journey of discovery to uncover this mysterious phenomenon. Along the way she meets scientists, researchers, influencers, and volunteers who shed light on the effects of our rabid plastic consumption and learns the problem is more insidious than we could have ever imagined. STUFF THE SLEIGH KICK OFF!

The Stuff the Sleigh promotion will run through the Christmas Skating Exhibition. From November 18 to December 17, we will be accepting nonperishable food to stuff Santa's Sleigh located in the lobby of the Kennedy Recreation Center. All donations will be taken to the Trenton Food Pantry.

The Trenton Civic Commission and Parks and Recreation have once again teamed up to kick-off the holiday season in a big way with the annual "Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony." Stroll downtown and welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to Trenton. The downtown streets will be all aglow with hand-held candles illuminating the parade route. The Parade begins at 6 p.m. Following the Tree Lighting Ceremony, all are invited to Trenton City Hall for the Parade afterglow and awards.

Fee: $15.00 per person (limit 20 guests per tea)
Registration: Begins Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Parks & Rec Office inside Trenton City Hall.

Annually, the Trenton Civic Commission recognizes outstanding Trenton citizens for their contribution to our community. Awards are bestowed at the annual City Award's Banquet. This year's event will be held at the beautifully restored, Chateau on the River, located in Elizabeth Park on Saturday, January 20, 2018. A variety of award categories are available. The Trenton Civic Commission invites you to nominate residents worthy of such honors. The award categories include: Trentonite of the Year, Good Neighbor of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Woman and Man, Outstanding Trenton Youth and Charlie Brown, which recognizes an individual that has contributed their time and energy to benefit the young athletes of our community.

Get Ready! The City of Trenton and the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League will be combining efforts for the 17th consecutive year to bring you the 18th Annual MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase. The Top 42 High School Hockey Teams in the Mid-West including teams from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana will show what hockey is all about.

Over three days, each team will play two games and showcase their talents in front of the best professional, college and junior hockey scouts. This event is possible by tremendous community support and we are always looking to add to our volunteer base. Call (734) 676-7172 for more information.

The Jamboree on Ice is Downriver's longest running show and displays the talents of all ages from 3 - 99. This year's Jamboree on Ice will pick up right where we left off last year. We will celebrate the skills of our growing students!

Trenton Civic Commission and Trenton Rotary are sponsoring a "Community Shred" Day at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring important documents for safe and secure on-site shredding. Wayne County will also be on site collecting resident-only tires from 9 - 10am.
