The City of Trenton's Wastewater Treatment Plant has been in operation since 1964. The City operates an Activated Sludge Treatment Facility. On an average day 4.0 million gallons per day are treated with a design capacity of 6.5 million gallons per day. Belt filter presses and Landfill is used for sludge disposal. The plant consists of an aerated grit chamber, 5 primary settling tanks, 4 aeration basins, 4 final clarifiers, 1 chlorine contact chamber, 2 sludge thickening tanks, 2 sludge holding tanks and 2 belt filter presses. The City also operates 4 sewage lift stations, 1 emergency storm lift stations and 20.0 million gallon storage basin all located in various sections of the city. This modern facility is located on 5.5 acres at 1801 Van Horn Road, Trenton, Michigan.
