KENNEDY RECREATION CENTER - EXCEEDING THE EDGE!

Remembering the past - skating into the future! We have come a long way since the first outdoor-uncovered arena was built in 1961. Today, we welcome you to the $8.4 million renovated Kennedy Recreation Center. This expanded facility is comprised of over 150,000 square feet of indoor recreational opportunities including 3NHL size ice arenas, skate rental, meeting room, spacious team locker rooms, pro shop, full concession and a spacious lobby and gathering area. In addition, the Parks and Recreation office is located in the lobby.

Trenton Welcomes Motor City Metal Jackets!

Trenton is excited that the Kennedy Recreation Center is now home to the Motor City Metal Jackets. The Metal Jackets play in the North American Hockey League and consist of players 16-20 looking to play NCAA Hockey. Season Tickets, Individual Games, Promotional Nights and Sponsorship Opportunities are available. It's more exciting hockey for all ages. The MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase

The "biggest high school hockey event of the season."
This season marks the 10th anniversary of the MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase hosted by the City of Trenton and the 10th anniversary of the Kennedy Recreation Center expansion, making this year "A Perfect 10!" On February 10-12, 2011, 40 teams, including most of the top 10 rated (MHSHCA poll) teams in each division, will compete at a very high level offering fans some very entertaining games to watch. In addition, scouts representing Junior A, college and professional hockey organizations will be on hand to observe the largest accumulation of high school hockey talent in the state . . . making the showcase a great way for individual players to gain top-notch exposure. "Jamboree on Ice" (New Date!)

No need to travel out of town to enjoy an ice show production. The Trenton Figure Skaters will dazzle the crowd during the Annual Ice Show, March 31, April 1, 2, 2011, right at the Kennedy Recreation Center. Over 100 skaters participate in this ice spectacular. Public Skating & Skate Rental

Looking for a fun way to get active and stay healthy? Why not lace up your skates and drop in during our public skating sessions. Don't have your own skates, no problem! Skates of all sizes are available for rental.

Freestyle Practice

Are you looking to refine your figure skating skills? Figure skaters can schedule their private lesson during our freestyle practice sessions. Each session is limited to the first 25 skaters. Monthly schedules are available at the Recreation Center.

Group Skating Lessons

Sharpen your skating skills the fun way through the help of our experienced staff. Group skating lessons for boys, girls and adults, ages 3 and up, will teach the basic fundamentals of ice skating for both hockey and figure skaters. High School Hockey 6-Team Scrimmage

Here's your chance to see some pre-season high school hockey on one day! On Novmeber 14, Carlson, Grosse Ile, Allen Park, Gabriel Richard, Huron and Riverview will scrimmage. Each team will play 2 games. For a complete schedule, click here.
